Parents are their child’s
first and most important teachers.
But many say they don’t know how to make the most of this crucial role. Right now, Washington state is home to about 350,000 children under the age of 3 – that adds up to a whole lot of parents who could use a little help.
Thrive by Five Washington, in partnership with the Department of Early Learning, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and other statewide and local partners, has created “Love. Talk. Play.“, a simple, but powerful message campaign designed to help parents and caregivers focus on three important things they can do – during typical, everyday activities – to give their children a great start in life.

Conversations with parents, input from the state’s early learning coalitions and state partners and information from national early learning experts, helped shape the campaign.
Deepening parent and caregiver knowledge is part of strategies #14, 15 and 16 in the state Early Learning Plan.
